MEMBER GUIDE

How GYC works

Everything you need to get value from GYC from day one.

01

Setting up your profile

Add a photo, write a short bio, and set your base location. This is how other members will recognise you. Keep it honest and specific — the more you put in, the better your matches.

02

Understanding contexts

A context is a specific need or offer at a moment in time. You might have a professional context ("I'm looking for a technical co-founder for my SaaS"), a community context ("I want a tennis hitting partner in Geneva"), or an event context ("I'm planning a wedding and need vendors"). Each context generates its own set of matches. Free members can have up to 3 active contexts.

03

Reading your matches

Each day you'll see up to 5 suggested matches per context. The match card shows the person's name, role, what they offer, and what they need. A higher match score means a stronger alignment between what you each need. Read the explanation — it tells you exactly why we think this connection is worth making.

04

Sending a great connection request

When you click Connect, you'll write a short note. Make it specific — reference something from their profile. "I saw you're looking for a CFO — I've done that three times at Series A+" is infinitely better than "Hi, I'd like to connect." Both parties must agree before anything is shared. If they don't respond, no offence taken — that's how GYC is designed.

05

Using the Board

The Board is a public feed for members to post what they're seeking or offering right now. Unlike your profile, Board posts are time-limited and action-oriented. Post when you have something specific and urgent. Browse when you want to discover people outside your usual matches.

06

Planning events

The Plan section helps you prepare for events — weddings, dinners, corporate retreats, anything. Tell us the event type, date, and location. We'll generate a checklist of everything you typically need to book. For each item, we find relevant GYC members and highly-rated local vendors. Pro members also get smart price guides and draft enquiry emails.

07

Going Pro

Free members get core matching and 5 connections per day. Pro unlocks unlimited connections, unlimited contexts, unlimited event plans, personalised introduction letters, vendor price guides, and draft vendor emails. Pro costs £4.99/month or £47.99/year.
